DECEMBER 2009

We are finally settling into our rental house in Austin. It was quite a month. We have had a blast with our family and friends. Vaughan said, "This is the best holiday season, ever." Kinda hilarious since he's not had a lot of them to compare!

The boys turned 3 years and 5 years old and will reschedule their party someday soon. Mom has been sick for about 7 weeks and just couldn't get it together for a party in the freezing cold!

On Nash's birthday, he decided to visit Santa Claus with his brother. What a couple of cuties. We had a wonderful, almost mesmerizing day...

Vaughan and Nash both got a much coveted skateboard for their birthday...let the co-pays begin! And, Vaughan got to go to the KISS concert with his dad, in full make-up!

Christmas was exciting and busy. We all got fun gifts and even got to see our extended family, too. Quite nice, indeed.

We miss our Lorri and Rob and Carmen and Steven...and hope to see them in the summertime...once the great Northwest has thawed out!

So here's to a new year, new adventures and more of the unexpected!

Our Last Few Days As Oregonians

Vaughan's Pirate-face
Nash eating pre-packaged food, with plastic utensils and not a napkin in sight.

It's like we've done this before ...in fact, it is almost exactly nine months to the day that we did this, headed for the Great Northwest. Oh, the glory of not knowing what the future may bring.

We are still trying

There hasn't been any real activity in weeks, but at least the crying has stopped.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

After bribing, begging, and re-dressing, this is as good as it gets!
Happy Holidays!

Aunt Sissy

These are a few of my favorite things...

Looking for a Rental House

As a mother, I have decided that one of the most painful things you can do to your children is make them look at real estate with you. I have never heard more whining, moaning, complaining, or "again?" in my life. It almost drove me to drink.

The funny part is that when my parents moved us from Houston to Austin, they rented a house on Camp Fire Trail. I thought that was such a stupid name for a street. Now, 25 years later, we are renting a house 2 blocks away from Camp Fire Trail...on Chuck Wagon Trail. But the best part is, after living 2000 miles away, Chuck Wagon Trail sounds Texan. And that's sounds good to me.

Halloween 2009- The Segers' Justice League

Well, we had a great Halloween. We played games with our friends, the Krolls, at Sunset Canyon Baptist Church in Dripping Springs. Then we went to trick-or-treat at Beverly and Jerry's house. Then ended the night with a party at the Campbell's spook-shack! Good times!

Oh, Nash.

No. It's not blood. Not chocolate. Lipstick. At least 2/3rds of tub.

Knights Versus Vikings

We went into a hat store at Cannon Beach, and Nash found a baby Viking helmet.
So, went we got home, the boys decided to dress up and have their lollipops.

Cannon Beach, Oregon

It was about 70' and overcast at Cannon Beach, today.
We walked around the shops and had some tasty pizza and hit the candy store...
The beach was nice. We played ball, chase and built some sand volcanoes and castles.
We watched a bunch of kites, and Nash's favorite was the dragon.
FYI- The movie "Goonies" was filmed at Cannon Beach.

Where in the World is Nash?

Seriously, I was tidying up around the house the other night and had just seen Nash a few minutes earlier. I checked upstairs and didn't find him. See below.
That comforter had been out all day because we were snuggling in the cool weather. We'd made a pallet on the floor, and later tossed it on the chair.
He made his own 'little boy cave' and passed out snug as a bug in a rug.

Teacher Mely's Last Day

Friday, Nash's teacher, Mely, had her last day at Bright Start. We are sad to see her leave, but will hopefully still see her on weekends. The boys wanted to give her a present, so they cut out sugar cookie flowers (tulips and daisies) and frosted them for her. Sweets from her sweeties!

Mr. Potato Head

The other night, Vaughan came downstairs with a newly decorated Mr. Potato Head. It was masculine and had the plastic mustache under the nose. He asked, "Mommy, what is that man's name from The Young and the Restless? You know, the one with the mustache... Doesn't my potato look like him?"
"Victor Newman," I replied. I cracked up. What an observant little man.

It's Potty Time

Today, Mommy asked Nash if he needed to make a poo-poo, and whisked him away to the potty. He made a deposit in the toilet and was soooo excited (a reflection of Mommy's enthusiasm). So after school, we decorated Nash's very own toilet and he donned a pair of Spidey underwear. We pee-peed next to the potty since we couldn't get there in time, but we were so close. Nash loves his big boy undies so much, he almost wouldn't let us put a diaper on for bed time. Fun, fun, fun.

Message to the Bohanons

We miss you guys, and Vaughan wanted to send you a message! Love you!

Hockey is Hilarious

Vaughan and Coach Ivan, before the scrimmage.

The scrimmage was so flippin' funny. What a bunch of cuties.

Vaughan is a go-getter, that's fo-sho.

Vaughan's Bike Surprise

Daddy found a like-new bicycle at a garage sale this morning on his way back from raquetball. He couldn't resist!
